And everyone thinks that suffering is below.
And everyone wants to rise.

Wow. Months later this story still hits hard. These two people are friends and teammates of mine. We have been riding together for years and have integrated into each others lives through long miles in saddles. I will never forget riding Washington Trace with Timmy: exploring new terrain while discovery life’s secrets, realizations, fears. The bike opens me up. My mind therapeutically spins along with my legs.
Bike therapy. Life is fragile. Love is not.
I was a rider before I was a racer, so to me it’s still a game: all smiles, and I will tear your legs off.
This weekend was too cold.
I underdressed on our 65-mile ride yesterday and felt chilled for hours after I was home. Today a little sun came out but quickly disappeared again. Can’t wait for spring: the smell of sun screen and the taste of sweat after a hard group ride, the passing of time in a park with lovers.
Getting ready for a ride with some teammates in NKY.
I never feel totally lost, but I usually have no idea where I “am.” I imagine this song will be today’s soundtrack as we explore some new roads and feel good about wandering without direction.
